Did You Know?

You’re one of our most valuable investigators! Help us identify potential issues before we arrive by sharing what you’ve observed. Unusual sounds, odors, visible changes, temperature fluctuations, and a timeline of when the issue began—including events such as storms, power outages, power surges, or other changes—can provide valuable clues. The more information you can share, the better prepared we’ll be to diagnose the problem and begin troubleshooting before your service appointment.

Comprehensive Diagnostics

Our expert technicians will complete a comprehensive evaluation of your system which will take approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete. This will include but is not limited to conducting the following tests and processes.

Diagnostics begin with the use of our senses, especially our eyes. Visual queues including icing, oil residue, sludge build-up, pooled liquid, dirt build-up on filters, and others can give us a good starting point with regards to what may be occurring.

In order to replicate or to isolate the issue you are experiencing, we will run the HVAC system through all of the modes to determine which are operating and which are not.

We will use a manometer to make sure that your system is pressurized correctly or if it is not within the recommended range.

With the use of a digital thermometer, we will check the temperature that the air handler is pushing out and make sure that it matches what is expected.

Since modern systems are designed to be a sealed system, checking the refrigerant levels can help us determine if a leak is occuring. We will connect compatible gauges to the system’s ports and measure the charge levels to make sure that they are in the recommended ranges.

Clogged drain lines due to sludge build-up or even small rodents that get stuck may lead to a HVAC system shutoff. Identifying and clearing the lines can help restore a system’s functionality.

We use a multimeter to measure the voltage, amperes and resistance of the electrical system that your HVAC is operating at. Each HVAC system is designed to operate at a certain levels, so variations will help diagnose an electrical issue. Checking the insulation of wires, capacitors and other electrical components will also help isolate potential electrical problems.

All diagnostic tests, findings, and analysis will be shared with you to provide a clear understanding of the issue. Once the root cause has been identified—or upon completion of the diagnostic process—we will review our findings with you and discuss a recommended plan for resolution, including the associated costs and estimated timeline.
